Nearly Home Trees is Claire Harris’s fused glass collection inspired by Cookworthy Knapp, the distinctive group of beech trees beside the A30 on the Cornwall and Devon border. For many people travelling west, this familiar silhouette means they are nearly home, making each piece a thoughtful Cornish gift with a strong sense of place.
Claire handmakes every piece in her studio near St Austell, building the landscape from layers of coloured glass before firing it in a specialist kiln. Small differences in colour, texture, sheep, birds and branches are part of the process, so no two pieces are exactly alike.
